Getting there

Flying

The most direct route is to fly into Victoria International Airport (YYJ).

The airport is about 30 minutes from downtown Victoria. Car rental pickups are available directly at the airport (National, Budget, Hertz, Thrifty, Avis, and Enterprise).

It’s also possible to get into the city by bus. Download the Umo app, select Victoria Regional Transit System, and load funds into your wallet. Fares are $3 per ride, with a $6 daily maximum (after that, rides are free for the rest of the day).

You can also take an Uber from the airport, though surge pricing can be high if multiple passengers request rides at the same time.

Ferry

You can also fly into Vancouver and take the BC Ferries over to Victoria (arriving at Swartz Bay Terminal). The ferry ride is about 1.5 hours.

Note: Passenger fares are affordable, but vehicle rates can be expensive.

Getting around

Victoria is a small, walkable city, and the public transit system is a great option for getting around and seeing local sights.

However, if you’d like to explore some of the beautiful beaches, hikes, and natural areas outside the city, we recommend renting a car.
